La neige c’est quand même ce que nous offre les nuages de plus beau et de plus féérique, je raffole de la neige, seul problème : les chaussures. Comment tu te chausses pour marcher sans glisser tous les 100 mètres ou encore pour ne pas ressembler à Robocop ? J’ai opté pour les bottes de pluie mais ça lasse vite. Des suggestions ?

It was a balmy 40 degrees here in Virginia yesterday and I was so excited that it wasn’t positively *freezing* that I refused to wear a jacket and shivered from class to class in just a tank top thinking « it’s so warmmmm! » …of course, it was still objectively cold so I was probably turning blue :) I JUST WANT SUMMER ALREADY!!
Love that white coat =) New York is not that bad. You guys should check out Fargo, North Dakota. Now that is real winter weather. 20 below zero is something to complain about, above zero is not.

Snow looks always wonderful on pictures or from behind the window! (I’d almost forgotten, how wonderful). But it’s really annoying, because walking in beautiful spring shoes is, off course, impossible.
i completely emphasize…. it’s a beautiful and sunny saturday afternoon in New York. And yet, I wish I could just pull on a sunny Missoni dress and sandals and head out the door. Alas, I need boots, a hat, gloves, and a winter coat. Makes me want to stay in my over-heated apartment and walk around in the sundress.

I’m excited that you’re turning your eye to the question of style in the face of cold, snow, slush and ice (even if you would love to click your heels three times and wake up to Spring). I recall being impressed with the style on display in the middle of Montréal Canada winter (though this impression is based on a few weekend trips there many years ago).
Additionally, I’m looking forward to more about being a traveler, working within the limitations of what you carry. My personal inspiration comes from a few pages in the middle of Bruce Chatwin’s book The Songlines (a book primarily about his journey to explore the Australian Aboriginal cultural idea of singing the world into existence, but, half way through, the book breaks down into a chapter following the action in Australia followed by a chapter that is really just his notes on his life-long fascination with nomads). In the short sketch, he describes a British salesman who travels all year visiting clients in Africa with a single suitcase (oh to be able to live elegantly/wonderfully/simply carrying no more than a single suitcase, my dream!), the contents of which he replaces every year when he returns to London.
