It’s true! I’m 5’11″, slender, with broad shoulders direct from my Norwegian ancestors, & I just don’t seem to be built for vintage! The waists hit me at the armpit, the tops of dresses fit only if I don’t button a single button (& it’s not like I’m busty!), and I’ve gotten trapped inside more tiny-shoulder dresses than I care to remember. Were women so much more petite back in the day? My grandma gloats when I can’t zip her gorgeous 30s dresses, but it’s like, “I’m 7 inches taller than you, tiny grandma!”

thats so weird i have the exact same problem! all my friends and cousins wear these wonderful vintage things while i never can even though i scour vintage shops for good stuff. the skirts are always weird and the dresses too teacherish… oh well. at least i have my mother’s stuff!

Oh please do not give up on vintage! You just need to find the right cut and line that works on you! I am sure you have been told that countless times above (I cannot read french despite having a very french first name) but it is true! Pop me a note one day or come see me if you ever visit Toronto and I will find you some great vintage pieces from my stash of goodies. I love you photos.
