Heart Of Glass

The first time I saw Anna with her glasses on, I almost squealed, “Anna! Where did you get those glasses?! Who made them?! Are they vintage? New? Can I try them on? If you need to get those off your hands…”

She broke out laughing and says to me that no, she’s the one who made them, that she’s coming out with a new line of glasses. They aren’t made yet, but she promised, as soon as she has them, she’ll have a pair for me.

Aaaaaaaah. Delightful.

And then after the euphoria wore off of the promise of future possession, I realize…

“Wait, how did you just up and do that?  How did you just go and start your own brand? Just like one day: here I go!?  Wow!”

“Yeah. I’ve always worn glasses, and so naturally, I had some ideas. I kept going with my job (Anna is a journalist for WGSN), but I always wanted to do my own thing, just for me. I have a name, Prism, my own packaging, a logo, a web-site, and there ya go! They’ll be out soon!”

I love when people just throw themselves into adventures like that. Especially when it’s friends, style friends, and when it’s done with so much class and simplicity.

Et voilà! This weekend, she came to Paris with boxes of glasses and told me I had to chose a pair. The only thing I can really tell you is that I had the hardest time. Every pair is beautiful.

I ended up picking the tortoise shell ones you see up top and then walked around all day with them (Yeaaaahhh, non-prescription lenses, we’re all a little ridiculous) and I got lots and lots and lots of compliments.

Allô ? Sexy secretary ? Oui ! C’est moi ! … I love ‘em! Thanks Anna!

Épure

I think if I had to give you a synopsis of men’s fashion week, it would be this little white tank top. It was simple, chic and delicate. It definitely did it for me.

I really like the effect the recession has had on fashion. Even if I am still prone to small bouts of nostalgia, remembering back to the electrifying hysteria of years past.

What do you think? Do you miss it? You miss the period of the it-bag & bling bling?

Comme un Garçon

Seated in front of my coffee, I was making my way through British Vogue. There, Alexa Chung talked about her style. She was saying that she’ll always be a tomboy and gave a Valentine Fillol-Cordier quote, “Dressing like a boy and you’ll get way further with the boys…”

I close the magazine, swallow a huge gulp of coffee and get myself ready for a shoot. Except this time, I’m the one in front of the camera. A perfect excuse to wear my feather skirt, with super high heels thrusting my body forward and a little jean jacket all adding up to a rather spectacular result.  I’m thinking that off in the distance, in the urban jungle, you could easily enough confuse me with an ostrich.

Les Italiennes

I don’t mean to jump to conclusions here but it seems to me, my ladies, that this summer, you can’t leave the house with out a strapless dress.

And it’s even better if, like the Italians, you wear it during the day with a pair of flats.

Oh I love it, I just looooove it! And maybe because I get the feeling that everyone could do this… Ever since I found out that it could work for me. You just have to find the right cut for you, you know?

It’s always inspiring to find the relaxed elegance of Italian women. They really have that little something that gets me just right. It’s the touch of the classic, the soft ease with trends, and their open, warm, graceful elegance that will keep them eternally beautiful and forever in style.

La Strada

A quick jump over to Milan for a million and one things all coming together around an exceptionally calm men’s fashion week, one that I’m still trying to keep up with, some shootings, some meetings, some on-the-street castings, and a few hours on the road to force a deep breath and take in some of the countryside, a little bit of gianduja (oh my goodness!) and voilà here I am ready to take the flight back to Paris.

So I leave you on a stroll through a Milanese street with the Italiassime Giorgia. I’ll bring back some gianduja. And I’m off!  Big hugs, bonne journée!
