My belongs to my daddy!

The Pitti Uomo is a menswear trade-show with tons of brands ranging from the most well known to the most confidential all coming together to show their most recent product.

Each time, I have a few things I fall for, but this time I told myself that I’d have to share some with you. And then on top of that it’s Father’s Day. My dad would never wear half the things I love, but, that said, if I pushed him a little, I’m sure he’d love to talk about outfits with me. * And I was about to give you a portrait of my father full of love and happy memories but I couldn’t do that to you on a Sunday. And maybe not on any other day of the week, I guess. Aaaaah daddy’s girls. We all are, am I right?* SO. Let’s get started with these three things…

#1 : These Trickers, photo below. I love them. If I were a guy, I’d buy them all the time. I’d wear them with pants that were a little short, and I’d be modern and cool at the same time and all the girls would fall like flies, just like that, boom.

#2 : D’Amico’s leather bracelets : They’re not even for sale. It’s just a little gift that the brand D’Amico gave away when you came by their stand. So it’s just an idea, but I really love a good leather bracelet on a guy and I wanted to show you. I tried to make Scott wear it but it didn’t work. He likes it fine, but it was bothering him. And ever since, this bracelet is on my wrist. Ahaha!

#3 : This is my dream turned reality. Italian grand-father shoes!!! Finally! I’ve been thinking so long that this style of shoe is amazing and finally someone thought to revamp them and package them in a way that’s irresistible. No but seriously, don’tcha think?! Pffff. These would make for some beautiful feet. They’re super comfortable, totally breathable, and seeing that my papa is four times a grand-father AND is Italian, it’s a no-brainer that I have to get him a pair. And there I was thinking that I found the greatest new thing and I should be a buyer for Saks Fifth Avenue, I found out that there are already some for sale at Colette.

Evidently, the always awesome Sarah had already found them!

So, that’s it for now. I still have some stuff to show you with lots of commentary that’ll be just as interesting. Yeah, because I have a brother too. And he sure is handsome… We’ll talk about it more later, mmmk?

Light + Color = Jil Sander

You wouldn’t have thought you were in a palazzo in Florence thursday evening at Jil Sander. The show started, and it was like beautiful aliens had just landed on hearth.

Sulla Strada

Last Night in Florence

Haider Ackermann was invited by the Pitti Uomo, and together they gave the most spectacular show. It’s as if the designer let loose the reins to his dreams. It was at the Palazzo Corsini, in a surreally beautiful baroque palace beside the Arno, two steps away from the Ponte Vecchio.

At 10:00, after a fruit buffet of pomegranates, cherries, and grapes the size of your fist, the secretive and sublime Jamie Bochert came forth in silence.

Then she sat down at the piano and started singing. All around her, violins, cellos… I’ve never heard her voice and I was absolutely blown away. It was soft, suave, and dreamy, like a summer night.

Then slowly, to her music, the models started out.

After a few sublime songs, Jamie got up. The show was over. A good runway show is always too short.

We all left with an inspiration book, a beautiful book full of images and drawings.

Wahoooooo. I’m heading down to get my breakfast and I’m going to flip hrough it with my coffee.

Santa Maria Novella

My mother always had a tall bottle of Santa Maria Novella  rose water in her bathroom. I never knew why it was there but I remember looking at the label and all the typography and thinking that it had a fascinatingly exotic refinement to it.

It wasn’t until years later that I found where she was getting her rose water. As far as what she used it for, that I still don’t know.

Santa Maria Novella in Florence really has to be the most beautiful shop in the world.

It’s definitely one of the oldest perfumeries. It was founded by the Dominican monks in the 1200s, and it hasn’t changed much since. Sublime, difficult to describe, and difficult to get a photo of for that mater… They ceilings are so high!

Okay, okay, I’m not going to start up with my history teacher impression. All I know is that I make a visit each time I’m in Florence and I spend hours enchanted, going from room to room, each more beautiful than the next and I always leave with my arms full of bottles. Even though the bottles are not the most important part. They’ve kept them simple.

But the perfumes are just incredible…

One of the most genius little touches of Santa Maria Novella is how much they’ve kept their history. Like for example, they haven’t reupholstered these walls since they got ruined by the flood in… ?? (I forgot what year!!!) (Good job little Ms. history professor!) I love this part torn up by moisture.

Aahah.

I love my perfume so much that just looking at these pictures puts me right back and puts a smile on my face. An hour that I spent just looking around instead of working. Pffff, I’m getting so sidetracked.

Okay off we go! To work we go! Bonne journée!

The White Shirt

At Stella

At the Stella McCartney’s resort presentation last week in New York. I loved the volumes…

The attention given to details… (Are you ready to wear suspenders?)

Boiling hot.

I’ve for sure tried to wear boots during summer. I had the whole look : natural leather boots that cost a pretty penny, the light little dress to go with and even a shoulder bag worn nice and low to finish the la vie bohème look that’d surely simmer Nicole Ritchie’s jealousy – yeah, this was light-years ago.

All I’m saying, the desire was definitely there.

It was without thinking about the heat.  Seriously now, girls. Where do you buy the mini air-conditioner to put in the boots? Take four steps and you’re about to spontaneously combust. I feel like I need ice cubes in my boots. Really now, the only thing worse I can see is walking in a pair of Louboutins in the desert, haha.

So I give up, and I’ve made my way right back to my dear, dear sandals.

Not so fast, These Fendis are as cool as the get, I’d almost be ready to sacrifice my feet for ‘em. Bonne journée!

Garance Doré

I began my blog in June, 2006. I was an illustrator and growing frustrated – with the type of work I was getting, yes, but mostly frustrated because I wasn’t really connecting with the readers of the magazines I was working for. I wanted to do something a little more free, more spontaneous. I had ...
