The Impossible Skirt Length

You know what I like about Chioma? Besides the fact that she’s a girl in a hat, and you know how I feel about hats… But then on top of that, she has mastered something that I totally gave up on at the beginning of winter, and I call it the impossible skirt length :

And with a smile even!

    oui c’est ça qu’il nous faudrait à toutes, des master class pour mettre en valeur nos dressings. Une idée à développer dans tes futurs post:
    tu débarques chez une fille et tu “remasterises” à la sauce Garance son armoire pour trois francs six sous en ajoutant deux trois fringues dans l’air du temps.
    Cela dit Garance je en désespère pas d’avoir un jour ce fameux dessin du Monde roulé dans d’exquises bottines…Je suis toujours preneuse et toujours une lectrice assidue et enchantée

    I am so so happy that skirts of this length are back!!

    I have one in my closet, it is for summer and it is of a beautiful scarlet red… It has waited 2 years to come out again!

    Did you know that “chioma” (read as Kioma, though) in Italian means the hair, when they are a lot and beautiful? And Chioma’s hair are like this indeed! :D

    I love the outfit. I have a hat very similar to that one on the picture. I love hats as well, though the critics I receive from some of my friends… They believe that fashion don’t go with them… unbelivers…

    No fan of my chunky knees, I adore skirts this length. When they hit that narrow part of your leg below the knee and above the calf, they are extremely flattering. As is their longer, more rectangular than square shape. And yet, for us women who have outgrown miniskirts (over 40), these are tough skirts to find.

    I also find that length – and the length an inch or two longer, that people were wearing in the early 00s, is it called ‘midi’? – really hard to wear! If you have any substance to your calves at all, cutting the skirt at this point can make them look thick and heavy. For me, the best solution is tall boots for a 70s look (and I love what she’s done with her layers) – otherwise, heels are mandatory. Maybe those girls who are 5’10″ with mile-long legs don’t have to resort to these tricks!

    Chioma maitrise très bien cette longueur de jupe. Pas facile en plein milieu du mollet, là où le bas de la jambe est le plus épais quand on est musclée. Aussi, un beau sourire capte 80% de l’attention de votre interlocuteur et donc vous pouvez vous permettre quelques imperfections, comme celui de porter une jupe à cette longueur.

    Garance, I know EXACTLY what you mean about finding the perfect skirt length. I never seem to like skirts that go past my knees, as I feel it makes me look short. And, in the winter, if I want to wear a skirt, I ask myself, “can I wear it with boots?! There’s snow outside!” But when I put boots on with my skirts, it does not work. Chioma pulls it off, though!

    I think this is the first time I have ever commented Garance but I must just say I do love your blog so. Your photos and illustrations, but most of all the little quirks. So basically-everything!!

    And yes, this skirt length is so hard to get right and this girl has done it. When winter rolls around, I will be trying with my favourite wedge boots and a slouchy, slouchy sweater, with inspiration care of Garance and Chioma. :)
