Garance Doré

Capri is so sublime that I don’t know where to start, so I think I’ll start by talking about style.

Tod’s sponsored an exhibition about Jacqueline Onassis, who loved to spend time in the little streets of the island, like me, ahah.
We were invited to the opening, and I loved it.

All the pictures were taken by Settimio Garritano, one of the numerous paparazzis that would follow each of her steps as soon as she set foot on the island – except he was lucky because he knew her driver who told him about every single of her moves…

    I think that she had a really cool beach style. I once saw a picture of her in Capri in the Indian vogue mag and she looked so effortlessly elegant it made me like her even more.
    I like it that you chose such vidid colour to write on the post, I am in the Capri spirit already.

    I’ve been in Capri myself in 2009 and it was the best holiday ever. So relaxed, beautiful people, tiny island but with such great style. Made me feel a bit like Jackie myself … :)

    I love Capri! I was only on the Island for a day several years ago, but tracked down one of the sandal shops where Jackie had sandals made and got two pair, including a style she often wore. Did you buy some parfum at Cartusia? They truly capture the scents of the island. Perfect for summer!

    I’m sorry but she’s not my type of girl. I seem uncapable of appreciating neither her style, nor her charm. To me she looks like a boring and a little bit nerdy high-school girl.
    I do understand people’s fascination with her, but I just can’t share that.
    I love the previous two posts however, and I am full of white envy for your Capri adventure. Glad you are back though :)

    Difficile de trouver une photo préférée de Jackie Kennedy Onassis … je ne sais pas si je ne la préfére à l’époque ou elle était juste Madame Kennedy.
    Elle était tellement classe … Par la suite, elle a perdu un peu de sa fraicheur.

    The beautiful late Carolyn Bessette Kennedy reflected Jackie’s style in many ways. Neither woman was classically beautiful but both represented chic American style (not an oxymoron!) and both were uniquely beautiful. I look to Carolyn for style inspiration all the time; she personified the modern interpretation of Jackie’s classic look.

    C’est troublant, hier soir il y avait un reportage sur les Kennedy et la tragédie de leur destin. On y voyait Jackie… tellement parfaite, tellement intelligente, tellement chic, tellement tout ! Le style de Jackie demeure inimité et inimitable. Elle aurait rendue chic la moindre tenue cheap. Il est question d’allure et de stature :-)

    Ahhh Jackie… révérence devant l’élégante référence.
    Etrange : sur la photo en soirée, esprit bohémienne, j’ai cru voir furtivement un air de Callas… Les femmes d’un même homme seraient-elles victimes d’imprégnation ?
    Cette idée me trouble mais il faut que je résiste à la tentation trop dangereuse de mener l’enquête sur les ex de mon mec ;)

    Dans un autre genre, les écrivains Maxime Gorki et Ivan Bounine, ainsi que les révolutionnaires russes Lénine et Bogdanov sont passés par Capri. Gorki, notamment, dont la chambre donnait sur les jardins d’Auguste.
