On the walls of the Hotel Pellicano, inside and out, you can often see photos by the brilliant Slim Aarons.
It’s interesting to see how much the passing of time makes us see things from a different angle. Here, for example, I love the matchy-matchy color and the heavy makeup (for the beach!) of Marisa Berenson.
If I saw this today, I would say to myself “it’s too much!”

Il fut un temps, les femmes allaient a la plage maquillees, bijoutees, habillees de sublimes maillots et robes de plage, plutot pour se faire remarquer pour leur elegance que pour aller plonger dans les vagues.
Heureusement tout cela a change, a moins d’etre sur un yacht ?

“too much”… !! ??? je ne sais pas, ça a un p’tit côté orientaliste comme si la chaleur, la moiteur faisait fondre le khôl, c’est sensuel et franchement sexy, et puis lorsqu’on est aussi belle (et jeune !) c’est plus facile, non ?

I love her…..she was one of my favorite models in the 60′s….every month i bought Vogue I couldn’t wait till the next issue…later on in my career I worked with Veruschka…Bill King asked her to recreate evolution of man from a crawl to standing……wonderful time for Vogue……Marisa was the prettiest

Marisa Berenson è sempre stata una delle donne più belle ed eleganti del mondo…
cette photo est magnifique, à propos du maquillage on le trouve “lourd” aujourd’hui mais il correspondait aux canons de l’époque, ça me fait penser au look de Romy Schneider dans le film “La Piscine”….
Aussi il faut dire que le monde est moins “glamour” de nos jours (ou c’est un glamour different), avant les gens s’habillaient pour aller au cinéma et maintenant il vont à l’opéra en jeans, les dames portaient des gants avec leur tailleur, on pouvait fumer en buvant des cocktails… eh oui, le temps ou Liz Taylor se baignait avec ses émeraudes est révolu!

Marisa Berenson is my absolute beatuy icon! I must have watched ‘Barry Lindon’ 12 times. Most surprising is that she is still marvellously good looking. Do you remember about the very provate Tom Ford’s show?
Besides, TOUT LE MONDE DOIT PORTER DU VIOLET! For Christ’s sake that is one of the most dispised colors, when it should be one of the most celebrated ones. Her purple turban proves this.

Gorgeous photo! I don’t know the technique but I love the unusual textured effect. At the moment I really like photography that hasn’t got a completely sharp clear finish. I like the way my photos look taken with my iPad – a slightly soft effect.
