Alex did an interview yesterday with a skincare professional about sunscreens (yeah, we’re already right smack dab in the middle of summer which is why we have, give or take, 200 questions)(We’ll publish them all at the beginning of next week, promise!) and one of the things that really got me that we learned the most from is that your best friend for protecting your skin from the sun, besides sunblock…

Is wearing a hat.

A hat. You really need one for summer. It’s not just something to look cute in anymore, but a shield to guard you against the mean and terrible UVA-UVBs.

So that’s an interesting enough thing to know, but I have to say that out and about, on the streets, I see a minority of women who have hats on… And I get it. Hats are not the most practical thing… a gust a wind and you find yourself running after it, and it’s hard to find one that looks right (even if I do think that everyone can find some kind of hat that works for her), oh also, I don’t know about you, but I forget them everywhere.

So there’s my new thing: I’m going to try to get in the habit of having a hat whenever I leave the house in the summer sun.

What about you all? Are you going to be hat converts with me?
