Tsssss, tsssss. Before you go crazy crying out “Noooo waaaaayyy!” let me refresh your memory about things we used to hate but now couldn’t live without, like Birkenstocks, espadrilles, and American coffee.
Yes, like every self-respecting 90s thing is doing, the mule heel is making a comeback* like only Britney Spears could do until now**. I know, I know!!! I was already talking about mules last week.
But now, we have confirmation that the trend is not just a trend, it’s a veritable tidal wave that we’ll wtf? today, but then go against all odds to have in our hands tomorrow.
Also the reason I am bringing up the subject again is that I realized I totally forgot a crucial point last week…
Listen, because with the mules, guess who’s the new star? Yes.
Yes, the heel… That part of our body we don’t think about often enough. The poor guy, coming back with a vengeance, is now going to be a crucial point of our summer beauty. And I’m not just talking about getting a good pedicure. Nope, that would be too easy.
So here it is…the bizarre question that we’ll be asking ourselves…
Wait for it… Can the heel of your foot be beautiful?
Weird question I know, but still…
For example, the one in the photo I think is not bad at all. It’s pretty straight, not too hunchbacked (does that work in English? Not sure but you see what I mean. No?), not too marked up, nice and smooth.
Me personally, I’m not a fan of my heels. I think they’re way too round. But I know you’re going to tell me I’m nutso.
I don’t care. I’m going to try to avoid the mules at all costs hoping that another Fashion Week Monster won’t coming knocking on my door.
And now that I’ve polled the whole Studio***, everyone put their heels together and compared them and laughed out loud, I’m asking you: do you like your heels?
** You guys want a whole post about Britney’s comeback?
*** Tamar, our intern, thinks her heels are way too marked by running. Alex thinks she has a stegosaurus heel (??? I know), Christiana had never looked at her heels before and Em and Theodora have terrible things to say about their heels, too. Aaaaaah, girrrrls.
