Here are Valentina Di Pinto‘s essentials who is a Fashion Editor for Glamour Italy and whose style I just love, and whose humor (yes, it’s my favorite personality trait a person can have) and haircut I secretly dream of stealing.

My Top: my essential is a leather t-shirt from COS. When it’s really cold it is better to wear something under or over it and if it’s hot …it’s better to stay in the shade!

My Bottom: Very, very thin leather pants from H&M, a leather ’50′s skirt by Salvatore Ferragamo and oversized leather pants by Au Jour Le Jour. I’m not kidding– I’m in a leather mood!

My Jeans: Black or grey are the essentials! I usually don’t spend too much money on them because I love to change it up a lot, so jeans from H&M. READ MORE

Where’s Waldo?

At the Acne show the other evening, the crowd was seated right in front of a giant mirror. Of course I couldn’t help but take pictures. Can you spot me ?

(I know, eeaaaaasy. Next time I’ll really hide. What… Me, a mental age of 4 years old ? What, don’t tell me you didn’t know !)

Very easy to wear, lovely color palette, nice workwear inspiration, lots of jumpsuits and all of that, cut above the ankle.

Stop ! I don’t need more to want to rush to the shoooop !

Oh crap. I’ll have to wait until next winter. Pfffff while waiting, here are a few images ! Kisses !

Ajaccio – Paris

RESHOOT? You think so?

Really? But with what? How am I going to illustrate the lingerie trend? And where am I supposed to find lacey stuff on December 31st in Ajaccio?

Way too Cool

Louise is too good to be true. Funny, hip, full of stories, of tatoos and of style. Pffffff, No, it doesn’t piss me off at all how much she’s got going for her.

The first time I saw her, I practically jumped on top of her to get her picture. At the time, she was a brunette. The second time our paths crossed, I practically jumped on top of her to ask her where her amazing red came from. The response? It’s simply that her hairdresser is one of her best friends. Nope, don’t tell me it does, because there’s no way this is making me angry.

But just wait, what’s with her outfits? Oh yeah, there, ehhhh… No biggie, just that Louise works with Acne and so she gets to wear all their pieces before they hit the shelves, like this silk bermuda tie-die. Yeah, like that!

NO, DON’T TELL ME SHE PISSES ME OFF BECAUSE SHE DOESN’T AT ALL. I love Louise and we’re going to grab a couple drinks tonight in a New York dive bar. Yep…  she’s no snob.

Ok.

LOUISE, I HATE YOU!

Hello Sunshine!

Welcome to London, center of the tropics. Get out the fans. It is splendid outside. SPLENDID!

Yep, splendid weather. Especially for everyone else.* Because I spent all day inside my exhibition space, where I spend most of my days sketching on the walls and drinking lattes. The rest of the time, I’m talking about the balance of colors* with Bob, my printer. And then sometimes, I sneak off to go see my friends and have a coffee.**

Yesterday, I gave myself an hour to go see Yasmin. I simply loved her outfit, her awesome accessories (The sunglasses! The surfboard around her neck! The Bracelets! The to-die-for Acne heels!) I don’t know how she’s able to stay so completely herself and so completely fashionable all while being so completely against the grain. I just don’t know! I don’t know. But then, I thought about it,*** and it has to be something celestial. And then I remembered this photo…

Kids Of Tomorrow

Ta daaaaaa! Stockholm is fresh. Fresh as a granite-chilled drink brimming with creativity, enthusiasm and a youthful vibe.  There must be something in the Swedish waters…  That being said, where are the grown-ups? Everywhere I go, I find myself amidst a throng of young people, each one as inventive and curious as the other. I love it.

Fashion as well, is young in Stockholm.  I already had a soft spot for Acne, whose edgy and wearable style every girl in this city is crazy about, more here than anywhere else. And yesterday, I was smitten with Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, a small clothing line that’s chic, cool and full of promise. I liked it so much that when I went to congratulate the designer, we got to talking about the her vision – bursts of colors, energy and joy bubbling up against a somber backdrop.

Which is good because, well, fashion among the Swedes is definitely wearable, yet there are times it is slightly repetitive. Shades of black, white, gray and a strikingly offbeat brand of sensuality which can sometimes be hard to pin down. Is it because the girls are so beautiful that they prefer to cover up in clothes that are a little too… bizarre? With shoes that almost look orthopedic? Although I can’t quite figure it out, it interests me quite a bit.
New ways to evoke sensuality, now that’s something that interests me quite a bit.

I came to Stockholm because I knew something was stirring here that the fashion world was bound to take note of . It’s very young, it’s on the rise. It’s light years away from Paris, Milan and New York. And that’s exactly what I like about it—open up an unknown universe, discover little by little, a new world of fashion that is Scandinavia.

…enjoy cold stone cocktail with kids who teach me a whole lot of things, stumble on ice because we daringly trot around in heels, dream at new student work, stare wide-eyed at a big runway show, eat frozen desserts while trying to create a new magazine, feel calm, alive and inspired.

Ah, I can’t wait to for it to be tomorrow already. Bisou!

——–

P.S. I borrowed today’s title from the Kid of Tomorrow modelling agency. All the young-er guys and girls I met on the street were part of it, like Agnes and Clara. But I think everyone here must be a model or something. Ah ouais.  But listen, in the end, it doesn’t surprise me.

P.P.S. Yesterday, I got a few comments about some grammar mistakes. I know errors come up every now and then. I write quickly and conjugating isn’t really my strong suit (that and not much else), bah voilà, it happens. Feel free to call me out on my bloopers (gently now). I’d be happy to make the corrections.  Really though.  Tak !

White Heat

Jacket, Dries Van Noten

I remember September in New York. It was fashion week and sashaying before me were all nude shades, cream colors, warm whites…

It was ho-hum boring. I wanted color!

This weekend, I had the same initial reaction at Département Féminin. And though I was shopping for colored shirts, gold shoes, greens, blues…

Dress, Balenciaga

… Everything that made me fall for Carole’s superb selection of clothes revolved around white. So impressive it was that I let myself get caught up in the soothing sensuality of its colors…and wanted nothing else to photograph.

Dress Acne, beaded chain Marie Seguy

My last two days were anything but what you see in the last photo. I was confined to my bed with I don’t even know how much of a fever, calling my mom, my man, my dad, my man, my super, anyone and everyone. Not for a second was I as glamourous as Chloé.

Kisses to you all. I’m quite happy to be back on my feet again.  Nothing like a good ol’ feverous delirium to remind you how good it is to feel alive again.

And to my lovely comforter, I thank you for your time, but i must now attend to the outside world.  Bonne journée!

Garance Doré

I began my blog in June, 2006. I was an illustrator and growing frustrated – with the type of work I was getting, yes, but mostly frustrated because I wasn’t really connecting with the readers of the magazines I was working for. I wanted to do something a little more free, more spontaneous. I had ...
