Dear Santa Burberry, here is my wish list for next season. I know it’s a little long, but I promise I’ll make good use of every single piece, including the super pretty hats.

PS : Next season I’ll be a good girl. I’ll be at level 10 of sophistication everyday.

No seriously, I loved this collection.

It reminded me of the first time I went to a Burberry show and fell in love with Christopher Bailey, when it was still showing in Milan. It made me feel like somebody was suddenly able to put my ideal style in one show. The mix of sportness and femininity I love. Plus, this time, fantastic prints. <3 <3 <3

What is Beauty?

I saw Nina in the street yesterday. I had no idea who she was, but I thought she was super magnetic and so took her picture.

And then a little while later, I passed by her again at the Burberry show and saw that she was surrounded by hoards of body guards and general pandemonium so I asked someone who she was.

She’s the new Burberry beauty, someone whispered.

I smiled at just how much the standards of beauty have evolved throughout the years. The era of the perfect face is over, and today, it seems like we’re looking more for a certain presence, style, an attitude, yeah, all these words that mean nothing at all, this so undefinable thing that serves to create mystery.

Girls who where the exception 10 years ago, like Kirsten Mc Menamy for example, are now the majority on the runways. Even Gisèle has been “weirdified” on the Balenciaga add campaign. I love that.

So off I went to find my seat at the show and there I was seated right in front of Stella Tennant. Stella Tennant, 40 years old, more sublime and cool than ever, with her strangely penetrating face. I don’t know why she gets me so much.

I looked at her and thought that she’ll never get a day older. Or I guess maybe yeah, she’ll get older, but her beauty never will. Her beauty will go with her until the very end and never will she need work done because just as with Nina, her beauty comes from this undefinable place that scalpels could never touch.

Yep, other than that, if you’ve ever wanted to cut your hair short, now’s the time. There are little short-cuts all over the place. Hmmmm, wait. I guess that means that actually, it’s already too late! ;-)

Little Miss Fashion

Yep, I think you got it, the guys and gals in Istanbul have style, they’ve got a Vogue, a Harpers Bazaar, a Marie-Claire, an Elle*, they’re addicted to the internet**, know everything about fashion and have their own star editors with wardrobes to die for.

Bahar is one of them. She’s got a spicy colorful style and isn’t afraid to walk around Galatasaray, the hilly part of town (where my hotel was, but we’ll talk about that more later), in 12 inch heels, and also is Nil’s idol (Nil was my adorable guide to the city and a seasoned blogger, but we’ll get to that later) Nil who says her fashion stories are always fantastic.

The Masquerade Ball

III Crystal & Me

“What do you think? How cool is this mask?” Crystal Renn asked me showing off her silver mask that made her look like cat-woman from space.”
I love it. I want the same one.
“And the whip? What do you think? Do I need the whip?” she asks me showing me a silky whip snapping it against her thigh.
I love the look. It’s so Newton. Wow. Yeah, get the whip.

The Masquerade Ball

I – You are not on the list !

So Garaaaaaaaaance! What are you gonna wear to Carine’s party? Anna asked me. Wait, Carine is having a par… wait, what? What party are you talking about? I dunno… I… I don’t think I was invited.

And that was the first time I heard about the masquerade ball celebrating Vogue’s 90th.

It’s all in the way you hide…

Tuesday, at the Burberry Prorsum show, I was seated across Mary-Kate Olsen. Next to her, Kate Hudson was joking with Rachel Zoe across the catwak and Kristen Stewart was watching all the hysteria around. Mary-Kate, dressed all in black, hiding behind giant sunglasses and a Mona Lisa smile, was totally still.

New York City Girl

I’m in New York!

I’m tired and jet-lagged from the trip and I haven’t had time yet to get my camera out, so I thought I’d take advantage of the situation and show you a photo that Scott took of me* for his project with Burberry** right after I bought MY YANKEES HAT.

Front Row ! Flash ! Blop ! Wiiiz !

Oh man, these fashion weeks are going by in a blink. I’m already in Milan! But I gotta keep you up to date on the last developments in London. A little synopsis of everything lived, done, and heard between the start of the Burberry show and just before leaving the after-party, completely drunk at…

9 p.m.

You don’t change out a winning team. Yeah fine, have your fun Alexa.

-A funny thing happened to me: my seat at the show was right behind Anna Wintour. So besides being able to sift through every pore of her most serene skin, I could gaze at, right there infront of me, Alexa C., Frida P., Mary Kate O., Liv T., Emma W., Gwyneth P., and Posh S.

-What does everyone do before a megastarred show? You tweet. Okay, except for me, my Blackberry is way too small. So just to blend in, I tweet orally.

-Overheard –> Gwyneth Paltrow to Anna Wintour [Just an FYI, It was Gwyneth who got up to go say hello to Anna. Ha, everything in its right place.], “Anna, I’m so happy to see you. Your last movie was so amaaaaazing!!”

- And no, I didn’t have my camera. I had to make a choice : thigh high boots or camera. So thigh highs it was. To make up for it, I thought I’d give you photos of my three favorite socialites. With always a special love shout-out to my dear Alexa, who’s always a ray of sunlight, really, the coolest girl on earth. And Dree Hemingway, just… wow.

- Wow… In her Zara shirt. And of course, as you wouldn’t expect less from me, I made may way over to the nearest Zara to try it on. No idea why, but it didn’t fall on me the same way.

- Anna W., according to Gwyneth P., will soon be Oscared up!

- The thing about my Stella McCartney tight high boots (yep)(no but seriously girl)(ok, I’ll tell you about ‘em), is that they come up so high that everyone picks up my skirt to see just how high they go. Next time, I’m wearing smiley panties.

Garance Doré

I began my blog in June, 2006. I was an illustrator and growing frustrated – with the type of work I was getting, yes, but mostly frustrated because I wasn’t really connecting with the readers of the magazines I was working for. I wanted to do something a little more free, more spontaneous. I had ...
