Le Beau Monde

Chanel resort collection… It feels a little suspended in time.

It’s like someone waved a magic wand and poof, all the tourists in Saint-Tropez disappeared, everyone left was wearing Chanel, and then on top of that, some perfect weather made its way in.

Then you would go have a seat in the café and there was a party, some live music, some gifts, some champagne…

It was my first Chanel resort show and the first time that I felt so immersed in such a marvelous world where, as Karl so wonderfully illustrated, even the sun is in Chanel.

In the middle of it all was the most incredible staging (models coming in on the most sublime Rivas), playing with the history of Saint-Tropez and just barely touching on kitch (the end of the show was on a huge motorcycle) without ever losing sight of the sense of humor (the motorcycle stalled out right before it got to the podium –> everyone cracking up at the end of the show), I discovered the pleasure, if only for a couple days, of letting myself be completely transported.

So I still have a whole bunch of pictures to show you from the show (and maybe a video! Yeaah!)(The girl who get’s herself all worked up)… And lots of thoughts to share with you as well.

But that’s it for the moment, I’ll go have breakfast, and then there’s only one hour left to head vintage shopping (I have to tell you all about it! We came across the craziest shop in Saint-Tropez!) before heading back to Paris… I’ll see you soon!

Let’s Play!

What a crazy atmosphere yesterday at the Place des Lices. A real “pétanque” contest had been organised, and everybody was taking it very seriously. Diane Kruger was jumping everywhere, Vanessa Paradis was totally focused, and Elisa Sednaoui was speaking french then italian then english to make herself clear with her team.

My team was Olivier Zahm, André and Laetita Crahay. We were playing against Leigh Lezark, Caroline Sieber and… I dont’ remember whom, it was such a happy mess !

All I know is that even though we lost, André et Olivier ended up winning, with Leigh, in the name of America. I told you, it was really a happy mess !

Then we all went to the Café for another very funny moment. No particular seating and the Gipsy Kings playing the guitar in the restaurant. I could never have imagined such a relaxed and fun evening…

Ok now I’ve got to go to sleep. Here is a picture of Diane Kruger who really spent her evening jumping all around. That girl is so cool. Tommorrow I will stalk her in the streets of Saint Tropez !

Garance Doré

I began my blog in June, 2006. I was an illustrator and growing frustrated – with the type of work I was getting, yes, but mostly frustrated because I wasn’t really connecting with the readers of the magazines I was working for. I wanted to do something a little more free, more spontaneous. I had ...
