TAG : fashion-week

I can’t believe it’s already fashion week, I can’t believe that…

- Models are so skinny (It always strikes me at the beginning of the shows, and then I get used to it)

- There are now more streetstyle photographers outside the shows than editors (and sometimes even more dressed up – and I mean, Anna Dello Russo dressed up)

- Trend for next winter : fur. It’s everywhere, in the shows and on the street (I wonder what it says about our times)

- I am still unable to plan a fashion week wardrobe (but now, I don’t really care)

Freezing Cool

And now, let’s all take a brief moment to honor THE TRUE STAR of this year’s fashion week…

THE COLD!!!

DON’T BE FOOLED by the bright blue sky in the photos.
The wind will FREEZE YOU TO THE BONE.

Even during the shows, you freeze. IT’S HELL. It’s the death of fashion. No one has any idea how to dress for it.

And if it wasn’t enough, I’ve heard that Chanel was planning on displaying a giant iceberg this morning at their show… HEEEELP !

Here comes the Sun !

Sydney is a radiant city and I think I’m falling head-over-heels in love.  I’ll have to send myself into the streets, attach myself for a second to their rhythm, so light and supple, and get lost in the contemplation of a sunset + beach + surf + palm trees, just to give you a little taste of what I’m seeing.

In the meantime, and just because that indeed wasn’t enough, here’s me being blown away by the quality of their fashion week.

Okay, so we’re on Circular Quay, with the Opera House right in front of us, and we could definitely spend a whole day here guzzling down a bottle of white wine, hanging out on the giant couches.  But yeah, who cares about any of that?  (Hmmm… that’s just like me, eh?)  What’s most important is that we make our way into a show and that we get to see some true clothes, worn well with some good ideas, and a general impression of true quality.  I really am so impressed!

And for me, who had quite the broken heart at not being able to go to the Festival de la mode in Hyères (Okay now, how was it?), I am delighted to find again an atmosphere that I’ve always loved over there : you take your time, you meet with others, you converse, you share…

Non.

No seriously like what?  I’m so boring when I talk about stuff I love!  Help!

Okay, here but wait, I have one complaint.  Australia is wonderful, all that.  But s’il vous plaît, would someone please like to tell me where I could find a kangaroo?

I Celestine !

There are times when I realize that, other than the fact that I reveal a good part of my life on this blog, I also get to show you a living diary of the friends I make. As for Celestine, I had run into her during the fashion weeks. Her looks are incredible, sexy, punchy, refined and fun.

I bumped into her again in London and we exchanged a few pleasantries. She made me laugh with her Irish accent and her electrifying energy enough to cause the Tube’s system to break down.

I suggested to take her pictures for Vogue.com. She agreed with a resounding YES and later, I found myself at her place. Of course, the train was out of order so I arrived late by taxi. We had to do the shoot at full speed which proved to be in sync with Celestine’s rhythm.

We even took time to have a little breakfast and go for a smoke. She burst into laughter because she admitted to smoking only during FWs. [One day, I must make a list of the things that people do only during these events; that would be funny]. Since I was pressed for time and this girl was such an angel, she drove me back to town in her mini race car. Yup. Speed-dating style.

Garance Doré

I began my blog in June, 2006. I was an illustrator and growing frustrated – with the type of work I was getting, yes, but mostly frustrated because I wasn’t really connecting with the readers of the magazines I was working for. I wanted to do something a little more free, more spontaneous. I had ...
