Cisco!
Oh oh oh, you’re so good! I ended up going with Cisco for all the same reasons that you
went over yesterday, because we felt that connection in seconds, and also because… I just love her hair.
It seems a little off to say it like that but it’s pretty darn rare to find models with a real hair cut.
Bangs, bobs or special haircuts make the whole hairdo business more complicated for hairdressers on a shoot or at a show. Short hair can make you lose a few jobs…
But it could get you some as well. It gives a lot of personality! But yeah, I got back to my hotel the night of the casting thinking that it was high time to do something about my non-haircut. (Especially with how easy my hair is now I feel like I can get any haircut I want!!!) (Aaaaaaaaah too many options, get me a hair magazine!)
Oh no, I’m getting sidetracked. So Monday, we did the shoot with Cisco, and she was even more beautiful than I could’ve imagined. We stuffed our bags full of delirious outfits and crammed them into her car. She took us over to Bronte Beach where we listened to David Bowie and sang Dolly Parton in the background. It was a beautiful day. We shot a million photos. She showed us some clothes that she made in Bali. We became friends, and the next day, I met her husband and friends, and yesterday evening, we all grabbed drinks together!
—–> Sometimes, happiness is a good haircut.
Aaaaah I’m just kidding!!!
Okay, off I go! I’m off to take a plane to New York. I’ll show you the results from the shoot as soon as it’s at the newsstand! Big Hugs!
The Casting
On friday, we organised a casting in my favorite café and bookstore in Sydney.
It was fun and we were having lattes with Rose (the angel who took care of me during this trip) while taking a look at their portfolios and making them pose to get an idea of what angles work.
To me, a good model has personnality (you can feel it in a picture), is not too shy (as sometimes I will ask her to jump like crazy in front of everybody) (or to cry), has a good sense of style (not so easy to give life to clothes, you have to understand them), be creative (not so easy to find cool and interesting poses) (= NOT SO EASY TO BE A MODEL!!!) (I’ve always thought it was a difficult job anyway)…
And then I also like to have a good feeling with the model, because I’ll shoot her as if she was a friend.
Here are a few of the girls I really loved.
(This is just a book, but it was so fun to have a casting in this café)
So tell me, who do you think I chose ?

PS : A big thank you to Chic and Scene, the model agencies, and to the Ampersand Bookstore & Café, which is now officially my office when I am in Sydney!
PPS : Sorry for the poor translation, I once again did it myself, this time difference is driving Tim & me crazy ! … Don’t hesitate to correct me !
Tamila designs jewelry
Tamila designs jewelry.
This is her desk. She shares it with Vicky and PK whom you met last Friday. On her inspiration board: a photo of Bowie, some crystals and a poem, among other things.
This is what inspired the beautiful and strange jewelry of her new collection.
I love her work space…
And there you have it. I never wear jewelry but I ordered one of these bracelet/rings (what would you call that?) because it was just too beautiful. This is not at all my style and maybe I’ll never wear it, but I like to give myself room to dream that sometimes, we can be someone else.

Freezing Cool
And now, let’s all take a brief moment to honor THE TRUE STAR of this year’s fashion week…
THE COLD!!!
DON’T BE FOOLED by the bright blue sky in the photos.
The wind will FREEZE YOU TO THE BONE.
Even during the shows, you freeze. IT’S HELL. It’s the death of fashion. No one has any idea how to dress for it.
And if it wasn’t enough, I’ve heard that Chanel was planning on displaying a giant iceberg this morning at their show… HEEEELP !

Changes
Right now, I’m realizing that the times, they are a changin’. Fashion weeks are a crazy little world for me now. When I get to a show, someone usually grabs me by the hand and smiles as they guide me to my seat. They call me just to make sure that I’m going to be at the show. They double check, triple check and get all upset if I ever miss one. Ahah! Yep! Times have changed!
It’s bizarre just how accepting and rejecting fashion can be. Between moments of absolute snobbery to false flattery, you learn quick to trust nothing but your own heart. To bring close only those whom you feel good with, to be no one but yourself and to see fashion only for what you love about it.
I like London because fashion here is young, it’s all over the place and not at all snobbish. Like get this, one of the shows that put the biggest smile on my face on Saturday was TopShop Unique. Gotta have it, am I right?
But it’s cool at the same time to watch a show and know that you could go out and buy the stuff.
It was a show that completely referenced the forest with lots of furs, clogs, big sweaters, layering short over long, khakis and browns. Kinda like how Tara is dressed, in the photo just above here. She’s in charge of the accessories for TopShop… Just to give you an idea of the coolitude of their creative team. So now, all I have to do is find 3 hours (Because that’s the minimum you need to find something)(I tried doing it in less… not possible)(Totally frustrating) of free time to go run around TopShop. Ahhhhh but that’s never going to haaapppeeennnnn!!! Too, too, too many things to see and do during fashion weeeeek.
Wait what?
Not even enough time to go shopping?
Shit. Times, they are a changin’.
