Mens : Details & Colors

My belongs to my daddy!

The Pitti Uomo is a menswear trade-show with tons of brands ranging from the most well known to the most confidential all coming together to show their most recent product.

Each time, I have a few things I fall for, but this time I told myself that I’d have to share some with you. And then on top of that it’s Father’s Day. My dad would never wear half the things I love, but, that said, if I pushed him a little, I’m sure he’d love to talk about outfits with me. * And I was about to give you a portrait of my father full of love and happy memories but I couldn’t do that to you on a Sunday. And maybe not on any other day of the week, I guess. Aaaaah daddy’s girls. We all are, am I right?* SO. Let’s get started with these three things…

#1 : These Trickers, photo below. I love them. If I were a guy, I’d buy them all the time. I’d wear them with pants that were a little short, and I’d be modern and cool at the same time and all the girls would fall like flies, just like that, boom.

#2 : D’Amico’s leather bracelets : They’re not even for sale. It’s just a little gift that the brand D’Amico gave away when you came by their stand. So it’s just an idea, but I really love a good leather bracelet on a guy and I wanted to show you. I tried to make Scott wear it but it didn’t work. He likes it fine, but it was bothering him. And ever since, this bracelet is on my wrist. Ahaha!

#3 : This is my dream turned reality. Italian grand-father shoes!!! Finally! I’ve been thinking so long that this style of shoe is amazing and finally someone thought to revamp them and package them in a way that’s irresistible. No but seriously, don’tcha think?! Pffff. These would make for some beautiful feet. They’re super comfortable, totally breathable, and seeing that my papa is four times a grand-father AND is Italian, it’s a no-brainer that I have to get him a pair. And there I was thinking that I found the greatest new thing and I should be a buyer for Saks Fifth Avenue, I found out that there are already some for sale at Colette.

Evidently, the always awesome Sarah had already found them!

So, that’s it for now. I still have some stuff to show you with lots of commentary that’ll be just as interesting. Yeah, because I have a brother too. And he sure is handsome… We’ll talk about it more later, mmmk?

Alto Paraíso

It was really hot in Rio. Every morning, I had to get my camera ready for the temperature shock between the -10 degrees inside in the air-conditioning to the +104 degrees outside. As soon as you set a foot outside, you’re literally swimming in sweat. Makeup melts right off. Any and every pair of shoes are incredibly uncomfortable and so you take them off and forget them somewhere.

The girls are amazing. It’s totally true. They are sublime. They dress with simplicity and taste. The coolest of them all wear flats. I didn’t come across too many fashion addicts.

But before I go talking to you about style, I’ve gotta set the scene a little. I think that in Rio, you can’t really talk about style without talking about the style of life. So, first of all, Rio in January consists of…

The heat. I love the moist veil that covers the skin after just a few minutes in the heat. I think it’s so sexy.

The beach. Everyone goes to the beach. I don’t really know the dos and don’ts, the ins and outs, but these giant packed beaches are little universes in it and of themselves.

The scenery. Absolutely amazing. I could do an entire post about the trees, the agave, the… Pfff I don’t know most of the names. But my favorite will always be the palms. These trees always bring back my wanderlust. Quite funny as I was pretty much born under a palm tree…

The body. I’ve often heard that in Brazil, body-worship abounds, but being there, I really started to understand why. And yes, it’s true that you want to go jogging right away after you get there (I don’t know why, I haven’t lived this healthy since… well… never really. One morning I woke up and whoaaa, just like that, off I went running. JUST LIKE THAT? Usually, in Paris, I will only get out my running shoes if it’s life and death.) and the lifestyle is definitely more physical than in… Paris, but it’s not only the perfect-body-worship that stuck with me… it was more the worship of the exposed body.

Here you can be in a bathing suit in the middle of the city and no one will think anything of it. It’s completely normal. Even going to the bank in a bikini. Or even at the grocery store… or even skateboarding.

Oh man, I’m talking too much and it’s really late!!! Okay, I’m off to get some sleep and I’ll be back so so so so soon to tell you all the rest!!! Big hugs!

The beach with Australian Vogue

“OH YES!!!”

That’s exactly what I said when Georgie McCourt asked me to do a feature for Australian Vogue. The idea was to take two pages and cover them with a mix of illustrations, photos and texts to give my vision of fashion in Australia.  I love collages like this.  And I also love when I get this much freedom to express myself. It’s a rare gift that I savor each time. So I had a lot of fun with it and fast forward to now and voilà! It’s finally out!

If you read me often, you know how much I loved my trip. The fact that one of the country’s most beautiful magazines has given me the opportunity to once again say how much I looooooved my time there, it’s just so great!

And it gives me the chance to come back to a subject that I didn’t get to talk about much when I was there. I was thinking a lot less about it back then as opposed to now when the thermometer just keeps going up and up, but here…

Beach style! Swimsuits! Australians go the beach all year round and so for them, it’s a real culture and the swimsuits have found their way into all the runway shows. That’s how I saw swimwear from a brand I only found out about at Aussie fashion week.

They’re called Zimmermann and their collection of swimsuits I just couldn’t believe. They were just as beautiful as cocktail dresses (check out the photo above, drawing on top). It brought back my desire to wear one-pieces. If you would have told me that a few months back, no way I would’ve believed you.

But hey, when I was there, didn’t see too many one-pieces on the beach, ha! And just for full disclosure, I haven’t figured out WHATSOEVER what I’ll be wearing on the beach this summer.

Probably just like every other year, I won’t be able to find anything and then, depressed, I’ll tell myself that I’ll find something later and then in the end, I’ll buy whatever I can find at the beach shop for ten-times what I should’ve paid and three sizes too big three minutes before jumping in the water.

So if for no other reason, I have to go back to Australia to 1/ see if the one-piece trend caught on, 2/ buy some Zimmermann suits, and 3/ go give big hugs to everyone over at Vogue! Yep. Definitely essential.

Thank you to Clarice for the pictures of the magazine. You can also see more of them on her blog. And a big thank you as well to my dear Tim, my friend and ally who’s lost in the depths of the U.S., still helping me every day to put my words into English.

Big hugs! Bonne journée! If you happen to see the perfect bathing suit somewhere, give me the tip, deal? What do you think, to one-piece or not to one-piece?

And here is actually THE question… With a one-piece, do you have to roll it down to tan?
