The last hour of the last day of fashion week, the fantastic Maria Luisa – a woman I just love and need to talk about again soon on here – put together a luncheon in honor of Alexander Wang. It was absolutely amazing.

I swear, I was so tired I didn’t even have the strength to lift my camera. I was just so content to listen to Maria Luisa, Virginie Mouzat and Alexander Wang talk about the shows and have a good laugh with my friends Gaia and Tine while enjoying a few bites of truffled risotto.

The only thing I couldn’t help but getting a shot of is Tine’s outfit which just matched the private room at the Rotonde at Printemps Haussmann so perfectly it seemed like she did it on purpose.

Next time you’re in Paris, don’t forget to take a peek in the big department stores. They really are architectural treasures. How about I promise you that next time, I’ll put together a little photo tour for you? Big hugs!

Short Dresses

My dear friends Tine & Luisa, whom I met for a Vuitton lunch on the Red Dragon yacht… Where you can’t enter with your shoes.

So you leave them on the ground, as you can see on that picture.

And so to make up for that, each guest was given a lovely pair of espadrilles, either blue or with red stripes.

So lovely that for one hour I almost thought I was starting to love espadrilles. I mean if you wear them well, it’s kinda super cute, right, no? No?

Yeaaah no after that I came back to reason. They will always remind me of old fishermen of Corsica where I was born. Not that I don’t like them fishermen… But I don’t want to wear the same shoes as them.

What about you ? Do you like espadrilles ?

Bye Bye Fashion!

Aaaaaand… It’s the last day of fashion weeeeek!!!

I know, just like me, you can’t just sit there and watch girls walk endlessly into infinity an beyond. You’re tired of hearing the words, ”amazing,” “fantastic,” “awesome,” every four seconds. You don’t even want to sip a drop of champagne anymore.

SO! If you have :

Luisa & Tine / Rome

The rain never did end up stopping in Rome (no seriously, you see all the drops in the photo?), and I could’ve cared less because I had a most wonderful day with Luisa & Tine who are both so fantastic as they responded to all my extreme traveler questions coming from someone who has never bought a city guide in her life and always ends up at the Zara just down the street instead of visiting any museums (shame) and who isn’t at all afraid of using intro sentences that are entirely too long (shame number 2).

Luckily, this time, I came across the two best guides you could ask for and we spent the day laughing and zipping in between raindrops eating mouthfuls of Nutella (shame number 3).

Tine & Luisa

I’m in Rome and it’s been raining here for two days now, but who cares? I just met the coolest girls ever.

Everyone, meet Tine and Luisa, the two designers of the brand TL180. I contacted them because I love their bags and a friend told me just how fantastic they are. I also got a hold of them because last time I was in Rome, I confess I felt slightly adrift among the hoards of tourists and I didn’t really get a good feel for the city.

And then in just one tiny afternoon, not only did I totally fall for them and their lifestyle, but they totally changed my point of view on the city. We met up for coffee, and then never left each other’s side.

But I’m not going to say too much now as there’s a good chance you’ll hear more about Luisa and Tine tomorrow. They’re on their way to pick me up in a bit and give me a complete tour of the city… vintage shops, restaurants, karaoke (?), and they are even bringing on some rain boots for me. Now that’s southern welcoming !!!

So I will be back soon, and in the mean time, go take a look at their site, send them all your love (those girls are real angels) and, please, do something about this torrential rain. Make it stopppppp!!!!!

PS : Oh and please enjoy my first “image carousel” !!! Well, at least that’s how we call it in France ! Baci !

Garance Doré

I began my blog in June, 2006. I was an illustrator and growing frustrated – with the type of work I was getting, yes, but mostly frustrated because I wasn’t really connecting with the readers of the magazines I was working for. I wanted to do something a little more free, more spontaneous. I had ...
