Who needs a driver? Who needs a driver when the weather is practically paradise in Milan and the traffic is stopped up all over the city and you’ve only got 15 minutes to get from a show to a fitting to a café to meet up with your friends?

Not Viviana, who has to be one of the coolest scooteristas in Milan. Not even I come close and I never leave anywhere without my bike which you can see here in the foreground in the corner of the photo.

Yeah of course, Viviana goes a lot faster than I do. There’s a hierarchy in modes of transportation, I suppose. And yeah, of course, Scott messed up his chain earlier and got grease everywhere. And yeah, I screwed up a pair of heels on the gear shift.

But who cares? Life on two wheels is just so freeing.

On that, I’m off to the Ferragamo show, but before I leave – on my bike – take a look at Viviana’s shoes (so cool!). I think we’re seeing the birth of a new trend for next seasons. Plexiglass shoes*.

*It’s gotta be made of something much more advanced than plexiglass, but you get what I’m saying.

My Editorials / My Prints Charming

Here are three of my favorite shots I took for an editorial in this February’s Vogue Nippon.

Little Color Story

Up here is Viviana at the florist after the Gucci show.. And yes, that’s Anna in the background in her orange ensemble, one of the colors of the season.

A sublime building right behind the hotel where the Gucci show was held.

… and Valentina at the end of the Gucci show.

A few weeks ago, I bought a dress that was exactly this same color, and there was so much of this color at the Gucci show.

And even as much as I love it, I can’t exactly put my finger on the name of the color… Is that purple?

Postcard From Italia

• Autumn in Italy is just one of those perfect things. You’d believe me in a second if I told you that the day I took this photo, people were swimming on the Italian coast… in NOVEMBER!

•  Autumn in Italy is great : there are practically only Italians. Still, I managed to ask how to get to the Duomo (okay, so I needed to get to the Duomo to get to the Zara right near the Duomo, aahhhhh I’m the worst, ahah!) from a group of Americans, ha.

• Autumn in Italy is also the season of fig-walnut sorbet, impossible to find in summer, because our sorbets are made with fruits in season, mademoiselle! Oh man, it’s so good!

• And it’s also my friends Vivianna and Aurora, with all our photo projects and laughing escapades.

• Finally, autumn in Italy, it’s just like everywhere else… camel fever. And that’s how I ended up coming home yesterday from a little mini shopping trip with a camel coat, camel pants, and a camel blouse.

How exactly do you say fashion victim in Italian?

Baci! Baci! Ciao!

My Cape

Let’s take a quick sec to talk capes. They’re all too classy. In the shows… in the fashion editors… in the fashion magazines… in fashion illustrations…

I love them, I’ve got one and well, I want another, even a summer cape ever since I saw Phoebe last week…

And so let’s put this in context… study this picture right here:

Yesterday in Milan, at Moncler

Moncler, the famous puff jackets brand made a very funny presentation yesterday…

What was super funny was also to see the fashionistas (And the absolute queen of fashionistas herself !) Watch a bike race in their high heels… (And what heels! Those crazy Prada chandelier!)

After Hours

It’s so great to work with your friends. I shot this Love Moschino campaign with Aurora and Viviana, Anna Dello Russo‘s adorable assistants.

Do you know those crazy moments, at the end of a long day of working, when you are so exhausted you start laughing about anything ?

Well… This was one of these moments. Kisses !

denim + beige + denim = springtime !

Today, we’re going to explore the mathematics of spring fashion. Don’t be scared if you’re like me and are baffled by even simple equations: you’ll see, it’ll be easy enough to follow…

Garance Doré

I began my blog in June, 2006. I was an illustrator and growing frustrated – with the type of work I was getting, yes, but mostly frustrated because I wasn’t really connecting with the readers of the magazines I was working for. I wanted to do something a little more free, more spontaneous. I had ...
