Empire State Of Mind

Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhh! And we’re back… To New York! This city gives me so much energy and so many new things on my wish list. I want…

More bustiers!!! Last week, I bought one at DKNY, and besides the fact that I had to run half naked through the store to find someone to help me close the thing, and that I ended up in the utility closet with 3 technicians saying I looked great in it*, the bustier is the ultimate article of the moment. Incredibly feminine with some baggy pants and heels for a party, super cool with a light sweater for daytime, oh I love them. I just love them!

I’m a Cowgirl !

Las Vegas! Casinos, hoards of tourists on pleasure quests, honeymooners, and its bigger-than-a-city hotels. Oh la la. We spent a weekend there, a little lost in the immensity of the thing. Especially since the slot machines don’t do anything for me and everything is done to make you lose every notion of night and day. In your hotel room, the light is filtered in such a way that you could believe it was day time all the time. Going out is a little complicated, because everything you do is indoors, in an ideal constant temperature that kind of dries out your throat.

Even so, it was beautiful outside. But really now, what’s with this? I had to get outside.

So when they told us there was a rodeo, I seriously screamed with joy. I always have dreamt of being a cowgirl. A cowgirl who fears not God nor Man, and with a beautiful belt buckle.

We got there right as the kids were preparing their Woolwranglers event. Too small to ride a bull, they straddle sheep. They develop their agility, learn how to face their fears, but above all, they learn the most important aspect of being a cowboy: the swagger.

The swagger… It’s all in the attitude. A cowboy never cries. He knows no fear. Okay fine… well, at least he never shows it. And it all comes out in a certain way he moves, the way he dresses.

A cowboy who knows no fear.

Cowboy boots that know no fear. HOW PRETTY ARE THESE?!

The swagger of a cowboy kid, just come from taming a sheep. I LOVE IT!!!

Swagger in the posture, with some chaps and Wrangler jeans, a must from a cowboy. I WANT SOME WRANGLER JEAN!

You see?! What did I tell you? Being a cowgirl is the best way to get yourself surrounded by burly men. No surprise that I fell in love with the last D&G show. YEAH! VIVA LAS VEGAS BABY YEAH! Okay fine, next time, I’m going straight to Texas.

Where the Heart is

Yesterday, I came across Cédric not far from my house, just like this, looking all cool and reading his paperback in the sun. Of course, I started talking to him in my totally fluent angleeesh, and of course, it didn’t take him more than a second to ask me, “Tu es française?”

Ok, ok. Ok, I know what you’re going to tell me: that’ll teach me to not wear my Yankees cap. Two frenchies in NYC. So I talked to him about his jean shirt, told him I thought it was awesome, and then he showed me something that blew me away right there. It was so overwhelmingly romantic, I still have yet to recover.

Agathe & Balmain

A few days before I left for New York, I met Agathe. Right away, bam! Total camera crush.

So yeah, I’m not the first to spot her. Agathe is a model. A white t-shirt, skinny jeans and a pair of boots, that’s the kind of thing she wears every day. I wanted to take her picture right away. And I loved that when I asked her what she would wear if she could wear anything, she said with no hesitation, “Balmain!”

And that’s how a few days later, Jade and I found ourselves with stars in our eyes at Balmain picking out for Agathe outfits straight from the runway SS 2010 collection. Aaaaah….

Ah, this Decarnin is fascinating with his clothes that are a little too everything. Too short, too much shoulder, too tight, too expensive, too sexy, his princess rock’n roll clothes that have girls dreaming.

And the shoot too was like a dream. You want to see a couple images from backstage?

——-

Thank to Agathe and Viva, her agency, to KCD and Balmain and to my two dear assistants, Jade and Chris, who made this great moment possible. And big hugs to you!

New York City Girl

I’m in New York!

I’m tired and jet-lagged from the trip and I haven’t had time yet to get my camera out, so I thought I’d take advantage of the situation and show you a photo that Scott took of me* for his project with Burberry** right after I bought MY YANKEES HAT.

Oh, how beautiful!

Yesterday, I realized it was the last day of the Guy Bourdin film exhibition at Bon Marché. I took a hop, skip and a jump down into the metro, destination: Sèvres-Babylone.

Oh man, I can’t believe I almost missed it.

Sublime. A true study in weightlessness. No use trying to describe it for words could do no justice. I loved the circular mise en scène, loved the Ariel Wizman soundtrack, loved getting a glimpse backstage – so happy, so fresh, loved seeing Guy Bourdin shooting in a shopping cart.

But above all, I loved the saturation of colors, smiles, the memory of these years of freedom, where provocation was a game, where sensuality overflowed with humor and no one was afraid to shock.

I had to bring you back a little taste, this time with a little motion, it kinda had to be… Here are a few videos. Watch them all at the same time and that’ll give you a little bit of an idea of the excessive beauty of the show.

Aaaaah. Bourdin. Goodness, how beautiful…

Punk’d!

Outfit inspired by the Céline show.

So Sunday, I had a shoot. We all met up in the morning at my apartment. Models, assistants, but also TV, because TV has been following me around for about three weeks now. That’s a lot of people in my living room, and a lot of people I don’t know. We were all there, drinking coffee and scarfing down giant pain au chocolats waiting to head out to shoot.

Yasmin

Yasmin, one of the coolest girls on earth, am I right? While I was in London this past trip, I made a stop at her place to take some photos for Vogue.com.

I spent a long and magic afternoon there talking about fashion, trips, spirituality (you really have to read the article in British Elle where Yasmin talked about her spirtual life)(You want me to scan it in for you?) all while devouring a bowl of hummus.

To me, Yasmin is a true model of a woman, independent, creative, spirtual, beautiful, funny and happy, and at the end of this Une fille, Un Style, she might even let out the secret of her amazing hair-cut…

You can click on the images to make them bigger. And now, I’m off to Balmain, yaaaaaaahhh… Bonne journee!
